American Idol: Where Are They Now?
David Archuleta – Archie signed a deal with Azoff Management after American Idol’s 19 Management passed him over, and his album, David Archuleta, sold an impressive 183,000 copies in its first week of release (putting him at No. 2 on the Billboard 200). And yes, girls everywhere still want to marry him and have 10,000 of his babies.

Top 10 ‘American Idol’ Songs
With each ‘American Idol’ season, without fail, we fall in love with these unknown, small town voices and vote on our favorites. We listen to the judges’ critiques; Simon Cowell’s bickering (with this season to be his last) and Randy Jackson’s belief in promising stars (for he fortuitously predicted Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson’s success on day one). But in the end, we, the viewers, decide who stays in the running, where finalists hope the show will jump-start their careers, and soon after commercialize their talent. Over the past eight seasons, here are the Top ‘American Idol’ Songs that have been successful on the airwaves and rated by AOL Radio listeners. Let us know in the comments which idol songs are your favorite!
1) David Archuleta: ‘Crush’
The seventh season runner-up finished strong, receiving 44 percent of the 97 million votes. But it’s not surprising ‘Crush’ was such a hit (and our No.1 ‘American Idol’ song) — Jackson said Archuleta could “sing the phone book” and it would still sound great. Growing up in the ‘American Idol’ generation, he became one of the youngest contestants to participate in the show. To keep better tabs on him, check out his frequent tweets.

Countdown To American Idol: 12 Of The Best Idol Voices Ever
Have you been overcome by excitement tingles yet? In less than 12 hours season 9 of American Idol will premiere on Fox, giving us all new contestants to love (and sometimes hate), new sharp-tongued cracks from Simon Cowell, more dawg-laden rants by Randy Jackson, more stern-yet-sweet advice from Kara DioGuardi, and a brand new judge to make us laugh in Ellen DeGeneres.
Through all of the delicious side dishes, we really tune in to hear the great voices of talented undiscovered singers. From sultry soul singers, big theatrical wailers, and angelic soothers, Idol has seen every kind of voice imaginable. Here are 12 of the best we’ve heard throughout Idol’s eight seasons:
Voices don’t get any more angelic than Archie’s. You hear the judges make comments like “For [insert tender age], this kid is great.” That was never the case for David. For ANY age he’s amazing.

Will Paula Join Simon on X Factor?
Simon Cowell is putting the old band back together! TMZ reports Paula Abdul “has had discussions” about joining him at the judges’ table for his American version of The X Factor in 2011. If Simon can somehow find a way to make David Archuleta appear as a contestant on X Factor, we’ll promise never to watch stupid old Cowell-less American Idol ever again.

As ‘American Idol’ season 9 set to premiere, a look back at the best covers ever on the show
9) David Archuleta “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”:
People seldom admit it, but the real reason Archuleta lost to his rival David (Cook), had to be the undeniable well of pain in his voice. “Idol” followers don’t want emotions to cut that close. With Archuleta, there’s no getting around the sense of loss in his huskier tones, which he brought fully to bear in this heartbreak of a song. Elton should be proud.

American Idol: The Idols’ Vitals
SETTLING IN FOR a new season of “American Idol” is like dropping into your seat on the first day at school. Before you is a herd of strangers, some you’ll get to know quite well, some you’ll wish you’d steered clear of altogether.
But just as each classroom has its nerds, jocks and preps, those who’ve made a splash on “American Idol” often fall into recognizable categories. Here are a few archetypes to keep an eye out for Tuesday as the “Idol” bell rings at 8 p.m. on Fox.
» THE RUNAWAY TRAIN: These folks have talent. It’s clear from the minute they part their perfect little lips just so, releasing a sound like angels whispering in your ear. Their pitch is impeccable, their song choices inspired. They immediately become front-runners despite the desperate attempts by judges to knock them off their game. They don’t all wind up “Idol” winners, but they do become big stars, which must help ease the pain of defeat.
» Examples: Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, David Archuleta, Adam Lambert
