Konzertkritik Wilkes Barre: Bühnenpräsenz, die ganze Arenen in Bann zieht

25 Jun

Konzertkritik für Wilkes Barre im Morning Call:
Supporting act David Archuleta hit the exact right notes – figuratively and literally – for the show.

In his 50-minute, 11-song set, Archuleta drew screams not just for great singing – his big notes on “Hold On” (gemeint is wohl Don’t Let Go? Anm. d. Red.) and “You Can” were worthy – but for just being a crowd-pleasing young guy. (He also got screams just for a small hand wave when his back-lit shadow appeared on the closed curtain before it rose for him.)

Now a year removed from his “American Idol” second-place finish, Archuleta has grown into a stage presence that can command arenas. Opening with his current hit, “A Little Too Not Over You,” he bounced all over the expansive set, gestured more confidently and sang more assuredly.

In a larger arena, he lost some of the texture his voice carried at Allentown’s Crocodile Rock Café in March. But he also gained a bigger platform for songs such as “To Be With You,” which has grown to fill the larger space, and bigger notes, such as an amazing one on “Don’t Let Go” and the still stunning one at the end of his hit “Crush.”

All the while, the 18-year-old Archuleta seemed confident and content – as if he likes where he’s at. And so does his audience.

WDf;oihegalkejdgnaelkgjaehfgpiuhchachacharmin;asdghdf;oiaub!!!! – neuer Blog von David!!

    25 Jun

Neuer Blog von David auf seiner offiziellen Website – ich hab Bauchschmerzen vom Lesen, ich musste so lachen! David ist einfach nur grandios!!! XD

    From the road
Hello all. I’ve come to give you my attempt at a SHORT blog report for the day. The tour with Demi has begun, and the first couple of shows have been great!! Demi is a wickedly talented girl! I’m glad to be on tour with her and am looking forward to an awesome Summer with her. I’m very happy to see the fans again too!! I’ve missed seeing all of you lol. Thanks for coming to the shows you guys! It really means a lot and makes it quite enjoyable. It’s great seeing all the old familiar faces and catching up, and then also getting to meet new faces as well. SO THANK YOU FOR COMING!!

Today I got my RIAA certified gold plaque for my album!!! It’s so cool you guys!! What an accomplishment it is to get one of those. You see other artists’ plaques on the walls of recording studios and stuff, so to have one of my own is seriously so surreal. Thanks for each and everyone of you fans for buying an album to make it happen! Maybe one day we’ll even go platinum! Craziness! As soon as I get a picture I’ll try and upload it somewhere haha. It’s not exactly a literal gold album, but it has my picture and the RIAA certification thingy on it… So it’s official! haha.

So today seems like a lot is has been happening with good music coming out! If you didn’t know already, Regina’s new album came out today!!! WDf;oihegalkejdgnaelkgjaehfgpiuhchachacharmin;asdghdf;oiaub!!!! I just got back from the city so I haven’t listened to it yet. I’m so excited to though! I’ve been listening to Begin to Hope to warm me up for the new stuff though, and after I finish writing this blog I’m going to let my ears have some Regina Spektorism treatment. I want to listen to it the whole way through without anything keeping me busy or distracting me, so now after the busy day I’m going to sit back and enjoyyyyy.

Brooke White’s 2nd single has also come out! It’s called Radio Radio. When I was in LA a few weeks ago she played it for me in the car and it always gets in my head! Radio radio, tell me what I wanna know wanna know. Michael Johns’ album has also come out today!! I’d get it if I had more money in my iTunes account lol. I only have 4 cents left, and I might need to just reset the account info or something but I’ll figure it out soon! It’s been acting up for a while but someone gave me a gift card so I was able to get Regina’s album and Brooke’s single haha. Thank you for the gift card though! Carly Smithson also has her new band! Woot woot woot. It’s called We Are the Fallen and you can check out their new song on www.myspace.com/wearethefallen. You should check it all out! I’m really excited for all my idol buddies! haha. I also heard that it’s Jason Mraz’s birthday today on this music-packed day, so happy birthday to Jason!

Ok, so I think I’m done for this blog entry! Hooray for not rambling as much! What’s funny is it takes me just as long to make short blogs as it does long blogs haha. Wait.. maybe even longer! Because it takes quite the effort to summarize what I want to say. As long as it makes sense though and there’s not so much dead space for those who read, I’m happy. Well all right, before I allow myself to ramble even more I’ll talk to you guys later!

    David verzauberte Del Mar!

    24 Jun

Wow, dieser Rückblick vom San Diego News Network für David’s Konzert in Del Mar bei der San Diego County Fair rockt:

You know that tingly feeling you get when you witness something so amazing that you just want to throw your cares out the window and jump for joy?

As I gazed at the dazzling outdoor ambience of the San Diego County Fair while 18-year-old international pop star David Archuleta serenaded concert-goers with “To be With You,” well… I got that feeling.

After a whirlwind day of fun with friends and games of “Let’s try to meet David before the concert without the security guard calling the Sheriff,” it was finally time for the show! I had been standing and walking for five hours straight and the effects of my athleticism coupled with the unhealthy delicacies I had sampled earlier in the day were finally taking their toll. Once the doors opened, I limped into the stands, exhausted and in desperate need of a chair.

Little did I know that I would be sitting down to see the best concert of my life.

As soon as David walked onto the stage, the sold-out arena burst into pure euphoria! Chants of “David, David” echoed from the back while high pitched screams filled my ears from the front. It was in this atmosphere that last year’s “American Idol” runner-up began to sing.

There are few artists today that sing better live than on a recording and David Archuleta is one of them. His voice enveloped the huge arena and his high notes had me in a state of dazed puppy-dog admiration. He was emotionally connected to every song and seemed to burst with energy as he gave performance after performance with intensity and feeling.

I tend to use the word “amazing” when describing this talented singer, but my praise is no exaggeration. His performances were simply beautiful and perfection in its finest form.

My favorite song of the night was “Zero Gravity,” a fun dance track off a mini-album that he released last week. The performance was full of energy as David jumped up and down and got the whole audience involved. In previous concerts, I used to snicker at all the crazy fans that jumped up and down and sang along to each song, but now I was one of them… And I wasn’t ashamed, either!

The performance was also a standout due to a magical part when I swear David Archuleta pointed at me and my friends. Fittingly, the moment occurred on the verse “The world just disappears when you’re here.” David, if you are reading this: The feeling’s mutual.

Another standout was David’s cover of “Imagine” by John Lennon. Many may remember the performance of “Imagine” that David did as a contestant on the seventh season of “American Idol.” It was a performance that captivated the hearts of millions across America, including my own.

Watching his rendition of the song last night, it was amazing to see how far this artist had come from that moment on the “Idol” stage to last night. The once shy kid who sang “Imagine” over a year ago had transformed before my eyes into a confident, powerful, and professional performer. Seeing him come full circle was a special moment.

When he hit his final high note, the only thing I was sad about was the fact that it was ending so soon. I marveled as moms, teens, and middle-aged men alike rose from their seats in a standing ovation. It was a sea of humanity united by the amazing singing of an amazing person.

As I left the grandstands, I noticed that around me there was not a frown in sight. David’s ability to captivate us all that night was inspiring. There is something incredibly endearing about people like David who make each performance seem like their first.

If he can keep doing that, he will be a force in the music world for many years to come.
